Returned from a visit to Dundalk Racecourse this weekend. The reason for the visit was as always cheap flights via Ryanair and hotel accommodation.
I also wanted to kick off my new approach at a venue where I have relatively little experience.
8/1 and 14/1 winners from 4 races and a bet on the underdog Tipperary to beat the reigning champions and four time winner Kilkenny in the GAA Hurling final more than paid for my weekend in the emerald isle
This time though I took a good look around the racecourse
The views from the public area in the main stand near a few hospitality suites (hooray) are stunning.
With a racecourse that treats punters with respect, fantastic food, friendly atmosphere, cheap on course drinks, downtown pubs that show At The Races and Racing UK situated next door to bookies, and nightclubs that stay open till 4am (including the hotel bar) Dundalk is fast becoming my favourite venue.
