As I work for the company, via employee purchase at a significant discount I have received delivery of a HP IPAQ 214
Using the process and formulas outlined in Barry Meadows book, I have created a spreadsheet to
- Create a my own personal odds line that ensures the chances of all horses in the line total 100%
- Calculate my percentage edge based on the odds being offered via the formula
edge % = probability of win x odds – probability of loss
- Determine how much to bet via the formula
optimal bet % = edge / odds
When I’m on course or in the betting shop I use the downloaded tissue on the device to conduct the calculations above on the fly as the odds change right up until the moment the horses arrive at the post.
I have no excuses now, if my odds line is semi accurate, a 20% or more edge over the crowds’ odds should restrict my selections to value bets only.
In theory!

Good luck! It is always wise to make the best use of technology to assist you in your betting.
Now with mobile web browsing, you can always check out the latest prices on Betfair and other online bookies to compare to the on-course bookies.
