It’s a weird sensation.

Sometimes the answer to a question just pops into you head. That moment of inspiration that hits you like a thunderbolt, that eureka moment!

Normally the moment passes me by and I slip back into unconscious incompetent mode however, after listening via internet radio to a race today which resulted in another virtual notch on my improvement metric, from deep within my subconsciousness something spurred me to review my pace handicapping method over time.

The best handicapping literature in the world are your own records

Without the need for traditional form analysis I discovered was that my process was successfully  eliminating non contenders at a 78% success rate without need for traditional form analysis..

Jim “The Hat” Bradshaw summarises my discovery

The ability to understand pace is an essential fundamental of successful handicapping. No horse can run at top speed the entire distance of the race. If a horse has to run a fast early pace, he slows and he may not be able to win the race.
