Dead Count Bounce

Posted by slipperytoad as Betting Strategy

The point and shoot approach to mid week races is looking promising, as it

  1. Saves me time
  2. Easier to eliminate non contenders
  3. Widens the scope of betting opportunities on the All Weather surface

deadcatbounceHowever, as I wrote in my previous post, the odds for the obvious (and likely winners) at the front end of the market in non-handicap races is tight. There is little room for mistakes; cumulative loses can hurt your bank balance.

Like Gordon Brown who thought he could eliminate “boom and bust”, I thought that I with some sought of magic alchemy could get away with a selection orientated approach in non-handicap races. Unfortunately the gambling gods don’t give up their rewards  so easily.

You cannot be a successful horse player if you are going to get the worst of the price all the time.

After reviewing results thus far I coming around to the realisation that a value betting using “low-priced overly” or “legitimate favourite” approaches are appropriate strategies for non handicap races.
