Today approx £2 million is up for grabs and all that’s required is a simple matter of picking the winner from six races.
Punters are up against it and maybe the value bet of the day is on Betfair for the Scoop 6 not to be won. Here’s why
- With the exceptions of the 2:35 Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham , the remaining five races are handicap which by definition are the most difficult races to fathom and I should know
- From the 6 races, the least number of runners in the race is 11 and that race is wide open. The remaining races are 20, 14, 16, 14 and 20 runner affairs!
- Your competition ranges from the humblest punter buying one ticket, to the biggest high-rollers outlaying tens of thousands with multiple selections in every race to try and cover as many scenarios as possible.
- Two selections per race costs £128, a big outlay when trying to avoid the same perms of the syndicates so in the unlikely event you nail it, the likelihood is that you may have to share the prize overall prize fund.
By now you may think that the bet is a lottery. It is kinda
The odds of more than 14 million to one govern the Lottery, whereas Tote Scoop6 punters can reduce their odds dramatically, by making their own decisions regarding the horses that they nominate to carry their cash.
The other benefit is the consolidation of the scoo6 Placed Fund. If your six selections are placed, the pay out on average is £572.
Typically I don’t take part in the Scoop6. Far too much effort for far too much heartache however today I’ve put together 4 perms and will use my £8 outlay as my Saturday afternoon entertainment before normal service is resumed at Wolverhampton this evening.
