Missed Opportunities – Part Deux
Posted by slipperytoad as Betting Strategy
I need to join the ranks of the Traders/Layers PDQ!
When updating, draw/pace stats this evening, I noted in the 3.50 race at Southwell today that King of Swords was installed at 11/2 favourite having opened on course at 9/1.
Hindsight is a powerful trait after the event (no pun intended) but from stall 1 in a 14 runner 5f sprint at Southwell King of Swords had it all to do.
Why?
In big the field sprints if you are dawn low, the closer you are to the far rail on the straight course at Southwell, the closer you are to a part of the track where the fibresand surface rides very deep. Ever wonder why winners at Southwell run down the middle of the track in the final 3 furlongs?
This of an example of the many betting opportunities I’m letting pass me by and why I need to engrain the following into my approach.
Instead of spending all your time trying to figure out who the winner will be, try to figure out if there’s a way you can make money in the race. If you can’t pass the race and avoid wearing the losers’ suit!
