Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda

Posted by slipperytoad as Warts and All

The numbers on my betfair account screen indicate that I’m still in profit, however what seemed like a breeze prior to my holiday is bloody hard work at the moment just to stay ahead. Like a horse that has been raised in class, I have to run faster to match the other contestants.

Understand that this is part of the game, but really need to figure out why I cannot make that all important break through to make the leap to further profits. I’ve been down this road before (Slipperytoad is 5 years old this month) so have experience to draw upon.

Therefore, the focus for the coming week are:

  1. Selectivity
  2. Consistent Staking! Dont want to damage my ego further when i miss out on a high priced winner.
  3. My main focus is racing on the All Weather Season and the season “officially” starts on the 1st November. Everyday there will be plenty of betting opportunities so I need to maintain discipline and be mineful of (1) above
  4. The National Hunt season “officially” kicks off on the same day. Every year I try my hand at some aspect of this code of racing to expand my racing knowledge. This years focus is Novice Chases and Hurdles, the so called bread and butter of the archetypal professional gambler
  5. Exacta/Straight Forecast – there is some potentially lucrative angles I can exploit with this bet type in chaos 0-50, 0-60 grade 6 handicaps.
