Best Odds Guaranteed

Posted by slipperytoad as Warts and All

If you take a trip to the Lilly Pad, your see that my punting is definitely improving.

One reason is due to Cognitive Psychology and the relationship to Decision Making. I plan to write about how we can apply techniques from these approachs to gambling in a future post. The other reason is the adoption of decision based betting by way of a tissue as opposed to selection orientated betting aka “who do you like”.

During my experimentation phase as I iron out the bugs in my pace handicapping strategy I’m betting small amounts of money at my local bookmakers as I cant be bothered to sit in front of a computer screen and bet as if it’s a video game. I like the instant gratification of being paid out in cold hard filthy lucre and I quite enjoy spending the profits on taking ere in doors out for a drink/meal using my ill gotten gains.

At the moment, the high street is extremely competitive for our bookmaker friends to the point where they have to offer enticements to get punters to part with the hard earned cash.

Some people may say that these are siren calls, but for me, one offer is just too good to turn down and has got me well and truly hooked. It’s the best odds guaranteed!

The offer is as follows.

When you place your bet and take the price on your selection. If the SP is bigger the bookie will pay you out at the bigger odds.

So now instead of trying to guess which direction the market is heading, I now stroll in to the shop just before the first show and check the prices of the horses against my tissue. Selections that were identified as value pre race are punted. If the price drifts I care not given the offer above. If the price shortens I’ve already secured the value price as indicated by my tissue.

Value is all-important – not winners. The secret is not getting more heads than tails, its winning more when a coin comes up heads than you lose when it’s tails

As a value punter if the horse loses, yep I crash and burn, but if it wins I’m guaranteed to obtain value on my investment..

Now that’s what I call best odds!

I was wondering how you were creating your tissues? It’s interesting to see you developing into a price-centric trader.

Using some decision tools I’ve created out of my cognitive psychology studies.

Yes Mr Ticksize, price for me is now everything. Helps me to obtain perceived value, makes decision making less agonising and I’m no longer emotionally involved in my “fancy”.

As Mordin referred to in one of his books, it’s boring but don’t gamble if you want excitement!

The best price guarantee has worked out very well for me in the past Slipper.

I guess backing big priced runners alot, makes it so.

The price guarantees available through the likes of Paddy Power and Bet 365 are really enticing. If you’re ever in doubt though you should check out an odds comparison website like Odds Checker or Easy Odds.
