Course Description
Left-handed. This is a 1m 4f oval course with easy turns. There is also straight 6f track as an extension to the circuit. The whole arena is exceptional flat. A very fair course that is appricaiated by powerful, galloping types. Furthermore if jockeys are instructed to come late with a late run they will find the 4 1/2f run-in ideal for such tactics

Nottingham race course is breeze to find given it’s proximity to the football ground.
The course very quaint and the public area is compact is so it’s relatively easy to find your way around the various facilities. The parade ring is extremely picturesque along with the lawn area and summer pavilion.

Unfortunately the grandstand facilities are minimal and my preference was to lounge in the sun from the Members area with a nice pint.

Its normal practice in the USA for someone to preview the days racing for punters and comment on the main contenders. This was the first time I had seen this type of commentary in the UK. With hindsight the information was pretty accurate (especially in the 4pm race) and good value (i.e. free information) for those punters with no particular fancy in each race

The view of the course from the members terrace is excellent and reminds me of the type of views obtained from the members bar at Wolverhampton. The only issue is that when the bay windows are open, you can hear the SIS commentary from other races making the on-course commentary difficult to concentrate on.

The member’s lawn is located quite close to the finishing line and is excellent. When the sun is shining, the guys suited and booted and the girls dressed to impress there is no other place to be.

As channel4 was broadcasting the 3pm and 3:30pm race the lovely Emma Spencer was presenting. She is as pleasant in person as she seems on TV and was kind enough to pose for the photo.

A thumbs up for Nottingham Racecourse and I shall return again for another punt and pint.
